The Tri-State

Named for the fact that you pass through the states of Querétaro, Guanajuato and Michoacan, this ride is located on the south side of the city of Querétaro.

The long, beautiful, kinda, but not really hard ride.  We climb right out of the gate here, a bit of twisty stuff through quaint colonial towns (a few cobbles, but not many) before we start looping around some hilly farmland and lakes.  The highest point, and our rest stop, is in Amealco at 2650m above sea level.  From there, it’s mostly downhill through more colonial towns and farmland on newly paved roads.  We’ll make our way back to where the ride began, where there just happens to be a cluster of bakeries and cafés (and a bike shop). We think there’s also a place that sells beer in the same plaza, but, of course, we’ve never checked. 😉

You're working pretty much the whole way, as there's little in the way of terrain where you won't be pedaling (except for a 10km stretch after the rest stop).
